World championship leader Superbike with 9 points ahead of Nicholas Bulega, alex lowes nHe only leaves in 10th position official test two-day event held on the Barcelona-Catalonia Circuit. Is this worrying for KRT who were playing there at home?

Spring in Catalonia allowed the top KRT driver to benefit from good weather and passable track conditions on the local KRT circuit in Barcelona – Catalonia. Only a “green” track on the first day and a delay to let the track dry after overnight rain on the last day reduced the track time available to the teams. World SBK full.

alex lowes, winner of two races during the previous event in Australia, first and foremost set about preparing for the next race weekend in Barcelona – Catalonia. Particular attention was therefore paid to maintaining the lifespan of the tires throughout the race, without focusing particularly on the search for a time on qualifying tires. Number 22, which still benefits from the collaboration of Florian Marino, did a long run to assess tire life on the second day and completed a large number of laps despite two small crashes on the last day.

13th on the first day, 9th on the second and 10th in the combined ranking of this Superbike test in the suburbs of Barcelona, Alex Lowes ended the two days of testing on a mixed note. He has undoubtedly made progress in the search for a race configuration for the next home races for his team, but remains behind on the attack on the clock and in anticipation of his true place in the overall hierarchy...

Alex Lowes: “I think I did 80 laps. I worked a lot. I did a race simulation trying to take care of the tires, especially the front tire, because this circuit seems to have little grip, which makes the situation critical for the front. I'm happy with my consistency in the race and it's certainly much better than last year when we had similar track conditions. We're making progress, but so is everyone else. Until we check the data analysis, it's hard to know where we stand. I don't think tenth place today corresponds to our true position. We now have all the information we need for next week's race and I feel good. »

Pere Riba (Alex Lowes' team leader): “We had a few things to test and we worked on them. We made some changes to the electronics and it was a bit difficult yesterday. Today we tried to understand better and we gathered all the information. This circuit is very different from the first round in Australia and the grip was not very good. Alex fell several times, but we finally gathered some good information. We will now analyze everything and see how we will prepare for the race weekend. »

With the final testing sessions now complete, the Barcelona – Catalonia round will take place from March 22 to 24. This is the second event of the new season and the first to take place in Europe following the first which took place in Australia last month.
