The first test session of the 2025 season of the World SBK Superbike took place at the Jerez – Angel Nieto circuit (Spain), and mDespite the unfavourable weather forecast, the first day of track action went off without a hitch for Nicholas Bulega, even if the strong wind made things difficult for the two riders of the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team.
Nicolò Bulega completed 77 laps, setting the fastest time (1'38.731) when attacking the clock with the qualifying tire and finishing more than four tenths ahead of Andrea Iannone (Dozens).
Intense work for Alvaro Bautista (the only driver to have completed 83 laps), particularly affected by the wind, who finished in eighth position (1'40.135) but did not devote himself to the timed attack.
Due to the light rain that fell, first during the night and then throughout the morning, the two Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team riders did not take to the track on the second day.
Nicholas Bulega (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati #11): “I am happy with how things went on this test day. It was essential to find the sensations we had during the November tests. I can say that the wind did not make things easier, and at times I had to focus more on correcting the lines than on riding the bike. In any case, the first day of 2025 was very positive.”
Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati n°19): “The good news is that we were able to do at least one day in dry conditions. We continued the programme that we started here in Jerez in November, but I didn’t feel comfortable on the bike because of the strong wind. It’s only the first day, and we have to continue on this path.”
