The French round of the Supersport World Championship will take place on the Nevers Magny-Cours circuit from September 3 to 5, 2021. Preparing the future of French speed is a project in which the French Motorcycling Federation has decided to invest strongly from 2021, as its president, Sébastien Poirier, told us.

For this action in World Supersport, the FFM will be associated with GMT94 and Yamaha France who carry out numerous projects aimed at youth, particularly in FSBK. The French leader of the French Supersport 600 championship will be automatically selected to race alongside Jules Cluzel (20 victories), author of 3 victories, 13 podiums and a pole within the GMT94 and Federico Caricasulo (6 victories). He will benefit from a Yamaha R6 GMT94 and the experience of teammates who have scored 73 podiums between them.

Sébastien Poirier (President of the FFM) : " Promoting French motorcycle sport is one of the missions of the FFM. I also hope that we develop all actions so that the most talented can access the very high level. Our partnership with the GMT94, beyond the actions carried out with youth for many years, and a commitment to global speed, will enhance our French championship. The models used are the same as in the World Cup. The technical regulations are very similar in terms of chassis. The FFM is joining forces with an approach that reinforces my objective of seeing the FSBK represent an important step towards accession to the motorcycle world championships. »

Vincent Thommeret (Yamaha Motor France branch director) : “ We had already participated in the project in 2019 with the wildcard offered to Maximilien Bau by GMT94. I was able to see the enthusiasm of young people and observe the hope represented by this approach which rewards sporting performance alone. Repeating the operation therefore seemed obvious for Yamaha. Some young pilots from the bLU cRU sector are in the running for this selection, which also proves the success of this training. »

Christophe Guyot (GMT94 Team Manager) : " Since its beginnings, the GMT94 has accompanied and supported French pilots. We race in an international championship, but every year we have at least one French driver in our ranks. This wildcard will make it possible to gauge the level of drivers competing in the national championship. This will allow everyone to progress, work to improve and take French speed to the highest level. We hope that this approach will be followed by other teams who will participate in a world championship. it is essential to prepare for the future and offer the best rewards to a driver who wins in the French championship. »
