As in all categories, the musical chairs for the 2023 season are well advanced in Supersport, and if there are still quite a few places left here and there, this is no longer the case at Dynavolt Triumph, which has just made official Niki Tuuli alongside Harry Truelove, coming from British Supersport.

After racing in 2016 and 2017 in World Supersport, the Finn then alternated Supersport with half a season of Moto2 then completed two seasons of MotoE before returning to his first love with MV Agusta in 2021 and 2022, offering the brand Italian its first victory since 2017 in Indonesia last month..

The 27-year-old driver is eclectic, having already won two races in Supersport and obtained nine podiums in 61 races, and already knows the team led by Simon buckmaster for having driven there in 2018 on a Honda. He will replace Stefano manzi, who decided not to continue with this team, despite an offer to stay, and seems to be moving towards a Yamaha team…

Niki Tuuli : " I'm really, really happy to be able to continue in the world championship. I think I have a lot more to give than I have given so far. I am really interested and very happy to join this new project with Triumph. I think they showed very good potential this year, even in their first year they had a very good result and I think that says a lot about what the team can do and what the bike is capable of. I can't wait to start the year with the new bike. I feel really good and relaxed when I think about next year. I'm happy to stay on a three-cylinder bike, I think it suits my riding style well. So the expectations are that I'm looking to do a really good job, I think that's realistic to say that. At the end I want to say a huge thank you to Simon and Dynavolt Triumph, all my sponsors, my entourage, they helped me a lot and gave me this chance, so I'm very excited to start the year and do the best work together. »

Simon Buckmaster, director of the Dynavolt Triumph team: “ It's good to bring Niki Tuuli back to the team, he rode for us in 2018 and then had a chance to ride Moto2 because there was a Finnish GP on offer then and he was a young Finnish rider. It didn't work out as well for him as it did for the GP which didn't happen. He returned to World Supersport and took time to regain his driving skills. He missed a few rounds this year due to an injury that caused him to lose some toes, but he came back and has been in good shape. It's good to have him back in the team, I think he'll do a good job and we all know each other so we should get along quickly. Moving from one three-cylinder machine to another, the adaptation to the Dynavolt Triumph 765 RS Street Triple should be quite quick, which is good because we don't have much time for testing. I think he will work very well with Harry and they will make a very good team. So, we welcome Niki to the team and to the Triumph family to fight for the World Supersport title. We can't wait to start testing, we'll see what we can do. »
