A name, a brand and colors: Maverick Viñales' father, named Ángel, took the initiative to create a new WorldSSP 300 team for 2021.

The new team, the Vinales Racing Team, will field two Yamaha YZF-R3s for riders yet to be named, although some rumors suggest that Dean Berta Vinales, a cousin of Maverick Vinales, who participated in the European Talent Cup in 2020 already helped by the family structure, would seem to be a logical choice…

In any case, the names will be announced soon and, in the meantime, we can only note that the graphic project of the R3 includes many of the colors and symbols worn by the MotoGP rider: blue, gray, fluorescent red, star , etc.

The team is also visibly supported by Yamaha, YART (Yamaha Austria Racing Team) and Yamalube, which undoubtedly adds another card in the game of the Iwata brand, dominated last year by Kawasaki despite third place. of Bahattin Sofuoglu.

The original idea, however, is above all to found a team capable of developing promising young drivers.

« I am very enthusiastic ", said Angel Vinales during the team presentation. “ For a long time I had in mind to launch a project like this, to have my own team and to give young drivers the opportunity to show their talent. I am very pleased to have achieved this and look forward to the start of the 2021 season to see all the work we have done reflected on the track. I am grateful for all the support and help from the people who helped me achieve my dream. » The structure of the father of Maverick Vinales (and uncleIsaac, Supersport 600 driver also helped by Maverick) will make his track debut on the weekend of April 23 to 25 on the Assen TT Circuit, also coinciding with the start of the World Superbike and Supersport 600, which will skip for the first time time for years on Australia, due to the global coronavirus pandemic.

Top Italian Technical Manager

To prepare and manage the motorcycles, Angel Vinales will rely on the expertise of the transalpine Vanni Lorenzini, well known for his success with Kawasaki (2012 title with Kenan Sofuoglu) then Yamaha (with Lucas Mahias, Federico Caricasulo, Florian Marino, Kev Coghlan, etc.)

Angel Vinales: « We present to you the Technical Manager of our the team, Vanni Lorenzini, who will exclusively take care of the preparation of the engines and our Yamaha R3s.
It is a pride to count on him, his technical and human quality certainly make the difference and we are sure that together we will achieve our objective.
Lorenzini has achieved numerous successes throughout his professional career and is a great technical reference for motorcycling, attentive to his work. Welcome Vanni!

Vanni Lorenzini: « My new adventure with the Viñales family begins. A special thank you to all the guys at MOTOXRACING and to Sandro Carusi who, since 2015, have taken us on a great journey together in continuous growth and mutual respect. »

Finally, we are also talking about a Junior Team in Yamaha R3 European Cup for the Vinales Racing Team, with two very young pilots, one of whom is Italian and lives in Sardinia.

A press release will soon be published regarding this junior team as well and we will know the names of the 4 (or maybe 5) riders who will be part of Angel Vinales' project.

Simply training young talents? Not so sure…
