For his first in the Supersport category, Lorenzo Baldassarri has achieved a masterstroke! Qualified in pole position, the Italian driver fought hard throughout the race to overcome the defending champion, Dominique Aegerter.

The two men initially had to get rid of Can Öncü, who was particularly sharp during the first part of the race and who had initially managed to occupy the lead. But the Turk did not last the distance and had to settle for third place at the finish, leaving his two adversaries to engage in an incredible duel.

Baldassarri rescued at the last minute

The two men thus took turns several times at the head of the race, before the last lap gave rise to an absolutely incredible scene: while Aegerter had just gone wide in the chicane conditioning the long return straight, Baldassarri took the lead. advantage with a sufficient margin to prevent its Swiss rival from taking over.

But the Transalpin came very close to disaster in the very last left turn with multiple apexes, losing the front but making a superb rescue. Aegerter, who initially tried to get on the outside, was forced to veer off the track to avoid a fall, leaving Baldassarri to race towards his first victory in the category.

In the French clan, Jules Cluzel who started from eighth place on the grid had bad luck at the first corner of the second lap, losing numerous positions but managing to restart. The Auvergne finished the event in 19th place.
