The Swiss driver got off to a good start this Sunday by setting the best time during the warm-up. After his lost duel against Lorenzo Baldassarri yesterday, the Swiss driver intends to take his revenge today.

While the Superbike warm-up had just ended, it was the turn of the Supersport drivers to return to the track this Sunday morning, with a view to benefiting from a final quarter of an hour of driving in order to fine-tune the settings of their machine in preparation for the last race in the category scheduled for this afternoon.

Yesterday, the first event of the season gave rise to a fight of crazy intensity between the newcomer, Lorenzo Baldassarri, and the experienced title holder Dominique Aegerter. Crime of lèse majesté, it was the first who won, at the end of a final Dantesque lap where the Italian almost fell and took his Swiss rival with him. There is no doubt that the two men therefore have the firm intention of doing it again today, the warm-up constituting in these conditions an ideal terrain to try to gain the psychological ascendancy.

Aegerter and Can Öncü thus quickly moved to the top of the timesheet, the latter city which had also had its sights set on victory during Race 1 yesterday after a great start, before dropping its pace afterwards.

The best time, however, did indeed go to Aegerter, who is thus ideally positioned for the rest of the events this Sunday, with a time of 1'54.020, almost half a second better than his Turkish opponent. What about Baldassarri? The Italian was in ambush, in fifth position at the end of the session, but was pipped at the post by Kyle Smith and his compatriot Stefano Manzi.

Race 2 of the Supersport will be followed from 12:30 p.m.
