0,8 seconds faster after the first day of the Supersport world championship on the San Juan Villicum circuit, Jules cluzel continued at the same pace on Saturday in Argentina!

After snatching pole position a good 3 tenths ahead Steven Odendaal et Manuel Gonzáles despite having only used one set of tires (a first!), the GMT94 driver gave no quarter during the race which took place over 19 laps. Repelling an attack from Can Öncü at the first turn, the Frenchman then retained command until the finish, gradually building up an advantage of almost 5 seconds at the final crossing of the line.

It must be said that between Jules cluzel and San Juan Villicum, it matches rather well, since the pilot from Montluçon had already triumphed there in front Lucas Mahias in 2019, the year of the last event at the foot of the Andes, as well as in front Sandro Cortese in 2018, the year of the first edition in front of the Cordillera!

The 33-year-old Frenchman therefore remains undefeated on this distant Argentine route, and hopes to remain so until Sunday evening to create a positive spiral after his very recent victory in Portugal...

Jules Cluzel, pole position this morning and you win the race by almost 5 seconds: A great day, but are you unbeatable here in San Juan?

Jules cluzel : “Yes, I hope tomorrow too (laughs). No, I'm very happy, it's a perfect day and I had fun in this race. I felt very good on the bike and physically I was quite easy and I was able to attack again during the last laps to prepare for the second race for tomorrow. It was cool and it’s perfect! I am happy. We need to work a little in some areas for tomorrow morning if possible, but it really has been a perfect day.
I enjoyed today and yesterday, so so far so good. An excellent job has been done by my team and I, so it is promising for tomorrow. My goal is to win again, so I'm going to sleep well tonight to be better prepared before Race 2. We had a great weekend last time, and I think we have a very good pace here. Hard braking and fast entries suit me, and I like this circuit. It was a difficult season, I wasn't at my best, so in Portimão I just kept to simple things. I tried taking the same approach for this weekend and it seems to have worked so far. »

Christophe Guyot : “Jules Cluzel has had an imperial weekend so far. With the pole position, the absolute lap record, the race lap record and the victory, he demonstrated all his potential, as well as that of his equipment. »

Race 2 will take place at 18:30 p.m. French time.
