After its victory SATURDAY, Yari Montella (Barni Spark Racing Team) managed to win again on the Phillip Island circuit during the second Supersport race, signing a double this weekend despite the return of Marcel Schroetter (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) at the end of 'test.

The start of the second Supersport race of the weekend was delayed for a long time by the clean-up of an oil spill left on the track after a national championship race. As a result, the event was shortened by nine laps, leading to the removal of the mandatory pit stop.

Unforeseen events which, however, did not worry Yari Montella who took off as soon as the lights went out to claim his second victory in two days. No. 55 will therefore leave Phillip Island (Australia) with a total of 50 points.

Behind, Marcel Schroetter was fighting for second place with Adrian Huertas (Aruba.it Racing WorldSSP Team) and Stefano manzi (Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing), before the last city – who was making a good comeback towards the podium – fell for the first time at turn 4 during lap 6. Returning to the track in fifteenth position, the Italian fell during the lap next at turn 7 and this time brings his bike back into the pits.

The incident promoted Orchards to a third position that he will never let go of. The Spaniard takes his first podium in WorldSSP.

For its part, Schroetter manages to find a few tenths on Montella. Although he managed to get dangerously close, he would never find the solution and finished the event two tenths from victory.

Frederico Caricasulo (Motozoo ME AIR Racing) finished fourth, just ahead Valentine Debise (Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha Team) who fought for the podium before falling back in the hierarchy. The Frenchman, however, ended the weekend on a better note after a fall in Race 1. The other Tricolore, Lucas Mahias (GMT94 Yamaha), finished the race in seventh position, just eight tenths behind Bahattin Sofuoglu (MV Agusta Reparto Corse), while the regional stage, Oli Bayliss (D34G Racing WorldSSP Team), took tenth place on home soil.

Can Öncü (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) missed out on points by taking the checkered flag in 16th position, ahead of the rookie Niccolo Antonelli and the wild cards Tom Toparis et Ondrej VostatekGlenn van Straalen completed 20e after serving a Long Lap penalty, for the incident with Öncü in race 1.
