Phillip Island was for years the reign of the Ducati twin in Superbike, now it can become so for the Panigale V2 955. Nicolò Bulega finished first in Friday's combined, ahead of his distinguished companion Federico Caricasulo. The novelty of the 2022 Supersport has not yet hit the jackpot, unlike the other “bigger” models, that is to say the three cylinders lined up by Triumph Street Triple and MV Agusta. In the opening session, the Ducati roared with Federico Caricasulo, in the second with the official Aruba.it. For the team that just won the Superbike World Championship with Alvaro Bautista, closing the Supersport with a victory would be the pinnacle. Caricasulo did not improve, but in the combined result he only conceded 40 thousandths. The king Dominique Aegerter is third, at 431 thousandths, ahead of the Kawasaki of Yari Montella : the 600cc Japanese four-cylinder no longer dances alone. The Triumph of Stefano manzi has the fifth fastest time, we know how much more efficient the driver from Romagna is over the distance of the race than on the dry lap.

Indonesia was very bitter about Lorenzo Baldassarri, who saw his last (meager) world championship chances disappear due to a violent highside. Friday in Australia, the former Moto2 rider tried to raise his head: seventh time, ahead of the other Ducati from Raffaele De Rosa. After being the only antagonist of Dominique Aegerter during two thirds of the World Championship, “Balda” will now try to close the bracket, before embarking on the Superbike adventure in 2023 with the Yamaha of GMT94.
