WSBK Supersport Barcelona Race 2: A crazy battle, Bulega abandons and Valentin Debise just off the podium!

The first Supersport race on the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit whetted our appetite on Saturday, Sunday's race left us satisfied with suspense and overtaking!

It started right from the start where Nicholas Bulega, although well started, braked himself by Federico Caricasulo at the first turn.

 

 

In the process, the championship leader expands and finds himself 6th while, conversely, Valentine Debise moved up from 6th to 3nd place.

The GMT driver even took the lead before Caricasulo regained his position on the straight.

 

 

Schrötter is then 3rd.

Debise did not give up and carried out a briefly victorious attack on Caricasulo but then fell back to 5th in the straight, in the game of aspirations.

Sofuoğhe did better and took the lead from Schrötter, placing the two MV Agustas in front of Caricasulo, van Straalen, and Debise in the same second, while Bulega followed at a distance.

 

 

The Albigensian didn't give up and moved up to 3rd on the 6th lap.

Stefano manzi moves to 4th at 1,4s while Bayliss falls.

Sofuoğlu has a gap of 0.4s ahead of the Schrötter – Debise duo.

At halfway, Schrötter closes the gap and joins Sofuoğread but Debise hangs on while Manzi comes back to 0.6 seconds.

Bulega then sets the best lap in the race but remains 1.5s behind.

With 8 laps to go, the 4 leading men are in a tight spot and Bulega begins his comeback.

Manzi passes Debise and Bulega picks up: it's going to be a 5-player game!

7 laps from the checkered flag, Sofuoğhe takes the lead from a brief leader Schrötter and in the process, Manzi passes 2nd, just as Bulega overtakes Debise.

There are 6 laps remaining and we see a slight gap between the 3 men in front and the Bulega – Debise duo.

With 5 laps to go, Manzi widens and we find the two MVs in the lead but the Italian regains his 2nd place on the slipstream in the straight.

Manzi even takes the lead at 3 laps but gets passed again on the straight.

Bulega then experienced a technical problem and had to retire.

 

 

On the last lap, Manzi moved into 2nd braking on the straight and crossed the finish line in 2nd position. He will ultimately be demoted one place.
