Team Ten Kate announced today that Dominique Aegerter will compete in the Supersport World Championship during the 2021 season, where he will ride a Yamaha R6 to aim for victories and podiums.

This is a bit unexpected because the Swiss rider has already signed the Dynavolt IntactGP team for another year in the MotoE World Cup, but the calendars of the two championships have common dates, in particular the weekend of September 19 (Misano MotoE / Barcelona Supersport World Championship).

If these are maintained, the 30-year-old rider, in agreement with his two teams, will give priority to MotoE.

Ten Kate plans to put together a two-driver team but it is unclear who Aegerter's teammate will be.

This formalization is therefore only a preview of the Dutch structure's projects as we are still awaiting the announcement of its participation in the Superbike championship... if possible with the French rider who made it shine This year!

Dominique Aegerter : " I am very happy to be part of the Ten Kate Racing Yamaha WorldSSP project in 2021. First of all, I owe a lot to Gerrit and Ronald ten Kate, and Kervin Bos, for all the confidence they have in me and for given a chance within their professional and very experienced team. It's an incredible opportunity and my goal is to be able to fight for the first places in every race next season. This will be my first time riding a Yamaha YZF-R6, but I've ridden a lot of different machines over the past couple of months, so I don't think it will be difficult to change my riding style for this machine . In addition, I will be joining a very experienced team and I am convinced that with my team leader and my mechanics, I will quickly get used to this machine and be able to go fast. I can't wait to get started and I will finally be able to get on this Yamaha YZF-R6 for the first time in early January. Finally, I would like to thank my brother and my manager for creating this great opportunity for me. Thanks also to IXS Hostettler Yamaha in Switzerland for their support.»

Kervin Bos, director of the Ten Kate Racing Yamaha team: “ Ten Kate Racing Yamaha is back in World Supersport, and it's nice! We launched this project with one goal in mind, that of fighting for the top spots. The first driver we reached an agreement with is Dominique Aegerter. He scored victories in Moto2, stood on the podium in Moto2, was on the podium several times at the famous Suzuka 8H world endurance race, and last season took two World Cup victories MotoE. This means he is very experienced but also very fast, so we are very proud to welcome Dominique to our team. We believe that his experience, his dynamism and his fighter mentality perfectly match our new project in World Supersport. But this announcement is only the beginning, in the coming weeks we hope to bring you further news concerning this new World Supersport project but also, without a doubt, our World Superbike projects for 2021. »
