After Friday free practice, ultimately dominated by Dominique Aegerter (Ten Kate Racing Yamaha), the qualification in the form of Superpole of the Supersport world championship allowed the Swiss rider to assert his control over the category by obtaining pole position in 1'39.046.

Behind, Nicholas Bulega (Aruba.it Racing WorldSSP Team) took advantage of the power of his Ducati Panigale V2 to get between the Yamaha R6s, in this case that of a Glenn Van Straalen (EAB Racing Team) particularly in form completing the front row.

Holders of GMT94, Jules cluzel et Andy Verdoïa, who had been brilliant during free practice, had to be content with the second row, next to Lorenzo Baldassarri (Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha Team).

Race 1:

5 Yamaha in the first 6 places but it is the Ducati of Nicholas Bulega who took the holeshot during race 1, ahead of a Jules cluzel author of an excellent start.

The Frenchman even took the lead of the race on the first lap, following an error by the Italian at turn 6.

Unfortunately for the French enthusiasts, the cockcrow died down at turn 1 at the start of the second lap, when Can Öncü (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) and Dominique Aegerter “Chicken” passed without braking.

7 laps later, Dominique Aegerter took command before forgetting everyone else.

He won his fourth victory of the 2022 season with more than three seconds ahead of Lorenzo Baldassarrias Jules cluzel had fallen due to a false neutral point and that Andy Verdoïa was able to salvage a 9th place, his best result of the season, after losing ground in the early stages of the race.

After smashing the track record in Superpole, Dominique Aegerter therefore obtains its 4th consecutive victory at the end of an intelligent race.

The Swiss has an R6 perfectly prepared by Ten Kate and dominates the category, even if his opponents are clearly identified and are gaining strength: Lorenzo Baldassarri coming from Moto2 and Nicolò Bulega whose Ducati V2 Next Generation leaves the whole mode behind during the starts, not to mention vigorous outsiders such as Can Öncü ou Glenn Van Straalen.

Race 2:

Bad news for GMT94, Andy Verdoïa is forfeited due to a fall during warm-up in the wet, just like Niki Tuuli (MV Agusta Reparto Corsica). Jules cluzel also fell but was not injured.

There are a few fine drops of rain falling at the start, and it will intensify during 2/3 of the race. Nicolò Bulega pulls his Ducati off the grid at the front.

But the precarious conditions transform this Supersport race into a Moto3 race, not only with the usual headliners, but also with riders who intend to showcase themselves with the usual tenors, such as Kyle Smith (VFT Racing), Yari Montella (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) or Bayliss oils (BARNI Spark Racing Team).

All these little people will end up shining, with different destinies, after Jules cluzel was very quickly forced to abandon due to a technical problem. Black weekend for GMT94!

Even more unfortunate, Sander Kroeze (Kallio Racing) and Filippo Fuligni (D34G Racing), one rolling squarely on the other on the ground and both being evacuated to the circuit medical center.

In the midst of all this, Dominique Aegerter once again, had an extremely intelligent race, remaining in ambush during the first third, gaining momentum when the rain intensified, and escaping irretrievably in the final laps when the drops stopped.

Fifth consecutive victory for the man who asserts himself at the end of a very good race as the boss of a very competitive category!

In the championship, Dominique Aegerter is now 44 points ahead of Lorenzo Baldassarri.
