Manzi back on the WorldSSP podium

The second round of the FIM Supersport World Championship proved difficult for the R6 drivers, although Stefano manzi of the Ten Kate Yamaha WorldSSP Supported Team took their second podium of the season in Race 2 after crossing the line in second position. The Italian also achieved a seventh place in Race 1, which allows him to enter the third round of the championship in second place in the general classification.

His teammate Jorge Navarro continued his encouraging adaptation to the category by finishing 12th in Race 1 and 8th in Race 2, while Valentine Debise of the GMT94 Yamaha WorldSSP Supported Team recorded its best result of the season by finishing 6th in Race 1. Team Yamaha Thailand, making its WorldSSP debut this season, scored points in both races, while the young Italian Nicholas Spinelli (VFT Racing Yamaha) impressed again with another strong weekend, topped off with a ninth place finish in Race 2.

« It was a more demanding weekend for our WorldSSP riders in Indonesia, especially in race 1. The Ten Kate team responded superbly in race 2, with Manzi fighting for victory throughout the race and who only missed out on victory due to his lack of acceleration out of corners compared to some of our rivals. Although the weekend was not perfect, Stefano leaves Indonesia in second place in the championship, and his team can be very proud of their efforts. Across the garage, teammate Jorge continues his encouraging start to the season and begins to properly tune his R6 to get the feel he needs to challenge for the podium.
Debise showed his pace in Race 1, and Spinelli continues to impress in his first year, while credit goes to Team Yamaha Thailand for their efforts to score points in both races. This is their first year in the category, but they have shown how professional and organized they are and that they deserve to compete at this level.
Mandalika has been a showcase for the WorldSSP category in terms of driver development and interesting and entertaining races. However, it also highlighted the need to rebalance the performance limits of different manufacturers in order to maintain the spirit and credibility of the championship. »
