Le WSBK world championship will set down its bags this weekend at Magny-Cours and, in Supersport, the GMT94 and Yamaha intend to give the French maximum chances for their national event.

Alongside Jules cluzel, these are therefore two wildcards which will be entered by the team of Christophe Guyot. One was already known since, in partnership with the FFM and Yamaha France, it rewards the leader of the French FSBK Supersport championship, in this case the already titled Valentine Debise.

The other was announced last Thursday in the person of Andy Verdoïa. Coming from the Yamaha bLU cRU sector, author of two podiums in the 300cc world championship, the Niçois completed a full year in World Supersport in 2020. Regularly in the points, he created a sensation there by winning a race in epic conditions and currently participates in the Italian CIV speed championship where he occupies 6th position.

Andy Verdoïa : " I can't wait to be able to ride for the GMT94, each lap will be an experience gain! It's a chance to return to the world championship in an experienced team which can bring me a lot of positive things for the future. Thanks to Yamaha and Christophe Guyot for this opportunity »

Christophe Guyot : " Since the Most race, we have offered a place to the most deserving local driver. Patrick Hobelsberger (Germany), then Dani Valle (Spain) took advantage of the opportunity to race in the country of their respective championships. The experience of the wild cards offered in the Czech Republic, then in Spain, demonstrated the complexity of the exercise for a young driver who will have to discover a lot of things in a very short time. Ludovic Cauchi, French Supersport vice-champion, was also eligible. However, this requires specific preparation because the driver will only have two forty-five minutes of practice before the Superpole. The exercise is all the more difficult as the high level displayed by the world field is unprecedented. Andy Verdoia is currently the most experienced driver to take on the challenge. »

Remi Guyot : " We will be happy to welcome Andy Verdoïa to whom I wish the best. This round will allow him to assess his progress since his last world race at the end of 2020. Andy is quite capable of quickly finding his feet on the Yamaha R6 GMT94, despite the pressure that a race within a team can cause. official. »

" In the continuity of our support provided since the start of the season, we are also preparing a project with Adrien Morillas, the coach of Ludovic Cauchi. We work together so that the best young person entered in FSBK 600cc can compete at world level, in the conditions that best suit them. »

See you next weekend of September 3-5 for the round of the Superbike World Championship on the Magny-Cours circuit!
