Dominique Aegerter wins second world title in a row well in advance. MV Agusta wins race 1 with Niki Tuuli.
About Paolo Gozzi de Motoracing
Hat to Dominique Aegerter : the 32-year-old Swiss driver won the Supersport world championship for the second time in a row, and well before the deadline. In the first challenge of the penultimate round in Indonesia, all he needed was an ordinary (for him…) fourth place to close the game with Lorenzo Baldassarri, victim of an impressive highside in the fifth round.

In any case, the Romagnol, trailing by 73 points out of the 100 still available, could only delay his rival's celebration. Aegerter did not look for trouble, he calmly moved to the back of the leading group and in the final he overtook Niccolo Bulega et Yari Montella to grab fourth place, more than enough to spark a party in Team Ten Kate.

Two years of domination
Dominique Aegerter ends the Supersport season dominating. In two seasons (41 races), he has won 25 victories, including 15 this year, which could have been conditioned by the bad day in Most (Czech Republic), where he was disqualified after a fall and accused of having simulated a injury to suspend the race. A double zero recovered in the blink of an eye on the 17 podiums won in 21 races. In 2023, Aegerter will move to Superbike with the official Yamaha of the Italian GRT. He will make his debut on December 13 at the Jerez circuit, which he will share with his new partner Remy Gardner. A potentially explosive pair.

MV Agusta breaks the ice
With Baldassarri immediately out of the picture and Aegerter only interested in the title, Race 1 was a gateway for MV Agusta to break the ice with Niki Tuuli. Starting from pole, the Finn brought down the resistance of Can Öncü, the protégé of Kawasaki Pucetti who made some mistakes in the decisive phase of the race. This is the second World Championship success for Tuuli, after Magny-Cours 2017. In the final, Öncü also lost second place, leaving it in the hands of Federico Caricasulo, on this occasion leader of the Ducati peloton. Niccolo Bulega, the Friday leader, finished sixth. An excellent performance for Yari Montella, “burned” in the sprint for fourth place by Aegerter by only six thousandths.
