Dominique Aegerter

An hour before the second Supersport race in Most, speedweek informs us that the FIM WorldSBK Stewards' Panel has decided that World Champion Dominique Aegerter will not be authorized to participate in the second race after his behavior deemed unsporting on Saturday: the championship leader therefore exchanges his status of victim for that of culprit!

Guilty of what?

The matter is complex but, apparently, according to GPone, the Swiss pilot would be guilty ofpretending to be hurt following the accident caused by Can Öncü during Saturday's race, this in order to bring up the red flag to have a chance to take the second start.

This was not the case and the race continued, much to the dismay of Dominique Aegerter who then would have continued to render obsolete the “unfit” sentence given to him by the championship doctors.

Dominique Aegerter would have in fact undergone MRIs on Saturday evening to show that he did not have any concussion or fractures, but the authorities would have decided to sanction him for his behavior by prohibiting him from starting Race 2.

We deliberately used the conditional while waiting for an official press release, which has now been done.
