The Barni Racing team carried out a test day in Misano. With three drivers and new safety measures, it has been a challenge but he wants to send a positive message: resuming the season is possible.

After several months of shutdown, private tests began to take place with a new way of proceeding. The Barni Racing Team was among those who were able to hit the circuits again and completed a one-day test in Misano. Michele Pirro et Samuele Cavalieri rode the CIV Ducati Panigale V4 R alongside Randy Krummenacher who was on his WorldSBK machine. The reigning Supersport World Champion replaced Leon Camier, still stuck in Andorra due to health measures taken by the government.

The team has been full of new features, especially concerning the organization of work in the box, with a new layout of the space. Separators have been placed between the different parts, in addition to hydro-alcoholic gel dispensers and air purifiers. Added to this are obviously individual protection devices and social distancing. These new rules were necessary to guarantee the smooth running of the day, which allowed many new things to be tried on the motorcycles.

On the Superbike version, Krummenacher tested the new tank configuration and some new features on the SC Project exhaust in addition to checking certain components. The Swiss driver completed 60 laps with a reference time of 1'35.494. For their part, Pirro and Cavalieri made their first outing on the four-cylinder, with some new features on the chassis and exhaust. Pirro completed 12 laps before returning to his role as test rider with the Ducati Superbike team. Cavalieri, for his part, completed 70 laps.

“Organizing this test was really complicated”, said Marco Barnabò, the main team. “I hope it can be a message for all motorcycling. Entering the track with three drivers was a challenge but the whole team really wanted to get going again. So I thank all the guys in the team but also all the companies who are by our side with the same desire to get back on track. I am convinced that from a safety point of view, managing a race weekend will be easier than a test. Krummenacher surprised me because despite the fact that he had never seen the bike he was fast. He carried out tests which will allow us to leave with a good basis for Leon's return at the end of June. »

Michele Pirro, who therefore took on the dual role of CIV rider and WorldSBK test rider, noted “a strange effect. See all the mechanics with visors, glasses, gloves... But once on the track everything goes back to the way it was before. We had to try some new things and the sensations were positive, especially regarding the new SC Project exhaust. I immediately found a good feeling with the bike. I thank the team, who gave 100% to get me back on track as quickly as possible. »

“It was great to be able to return to the track after a long break and try the Ducati Panigale V4 R Superbike”, added Krummenacher. “It’s a shame the day passed so quickly. I immediately felt comfortable on the bike, and with the team we managed to complete the planned work program. » Cavalieri, who rides for the Barni team in CIV, also had good feelings: “After quarantine I really wanted this day on the track. The basis of the bike is good, I hope the first race of the season will take place soon. »
