Kawasaki official and multiple WSBK World Champion Jonathan Rea has once again demonstrated that mixing Superbike and MotoGP machines is not a good idea. Especially when cohabitation on the track turns to the advantage of motorcycles derived from the series. Of course, comparison is not right, but the timesheet still indicates a ZX-10RR ahead of a Yamaha M1 driven by Cal Crutchlow. A little further on we also note Alex Lowes, still on Kawasaki, preceding Dani Pedrosa and his KTM RC16…
Here is a first day of testing in Aragon which the factory can be satisfied with Kawasaki whose only point of interest is to dominate the WSBK. A successful mission so far thanks also to the talent of its pilot Jonathan Rhea. But when it is pointed out to the Akashi factory that it triumphs ingloriously, since it is not MotoGP, it can, on occasion, release some time sheets from tests where comparisons are possible with the world of Grands Prix. And that of the first day of testing in Aragon is now part of the file.
Rea and Alex Lowes annoy MotoGP with their Kawasaki
Jonathan Rhea, with his 1'49.338, is ahead of Cal Crutchlow equipped with Yamaha M1 of 122 thousandths. The latter saves the honor for only 10 thousandths against alex lowes also equipped as ZX10-RR. The latter still has the satisfaction of also beating a MotoGP since he puts behind him Dani Pedrosa who tested for KTM.
It is not even certain that the two MotoGPs thus jostled will have the opportunity to take their revenge tomorrow since bad weather is forecast in Aragon. The rest of the ranking is completed by gerloff which is still convincing with the Yamaha, but R1 this time. Locatelli, Nozane et Ponsson, also in R1, follow.
