At the of the first day of these two days of testing on the Catalunya–Barcelona circuit, the free electron and nevertheless official Ducati rider, Scott Redding, would have every reason to indulge in a certain exuberance, as he often does in his videos posted on Instagram: he actually did a more than solid job, with two long runs on a 46° track, and as a bonus obtained the best time of the day, despite a last minute attack from the reigning world champion Jonathan Rea.

But, after two days of testing at Misano in June, the Briton did not indulge in any boasting, contenting himself with modestly analyzing the positive points of this session which took place under the Catalan sun: “ It's good to be back in Spain and back with my Ducati. The track conditions were completely different from our winter test. Conditions there were much cooler, just like the season opener in Australia. It was warmer in Misano and the first day of testing in Barcelona was an informative day for us. Around noon, I did a simulated race. It was long and sweaty, but it's exactly what we need to do. At the end of the day we repeated this and were able to improve the lap time again, despite the track temperature. We've put together some good information for the race weekend. The track is always nice, although Barcelona has never been an easy circuit for me. It was good to work here in the warm weather and on my weak points. We also retested a few new parts to confirm the results of the test in Misano. For me, the main priority was to ride the bike and the tires in the heat, because I hadn't done that before. »
