Lucas Mahias takes stock of his tests.

Lucas Mahias will be the Frenchman to follow this season in WSBK. The one who carved out his reputation in WSS, spent four years and with a World Champion title, remains in the Kawasaki fold by joining a well-made Pucetti team. However, he remains a beginner and during the Misano tests he was only able to cut his teeth on the old version of the ZX-10RR. However, he didn't do so badly...

Lucas Mahias will be a grid driver WSBK in 2021 riding a ZX-10RR from his favorite brand Kawasaki. The Frenchman has already raced in the Superbike World Championship at Assen 2016 and he has also ridden a 1cc motorcycle several times in the Endurance World Championship. But in 000 he will compete in a full season in the Superbike World Championship for the first time.

The tricolor of 31 is therefore a beginner. And like any rookie, he needs miles to get his bearings: “ I'm starting to understand how this bike works, but there are still miles to go to be good Admitted Mahias after two days of testing Misano. " The test was very important for me and basically positive. You have to keep in mind that this is my superbike debut », underlined the pilot Kawasaki.

Lucas Mahias has made big progress

« I was making progress on the second day and significantly improved my time from the first day of the test. But it was even more important that we worked intensively with the bike and grew together as a team. We still have a lot to do. I'm pretty good on a fast lap, but we still need to work on race pace » he comments on speedweek.

Because Kawasaki has not yet supplied all the necessary parts for the new ZX10-RR, the Frenchman is still testing with the old bike. With a fastest personal lap in 1'34.806, Mahias was only 0,5s slower than the Ducati factory rider Scott Redding. He missed the best test time by a second. Michael Rinaldi, new official Ducati.
