WSBK

This week in Jerez, the WSBK will make its last appearance on the track before the confectioners' break, in preparation for its next season which already promises to be colorful. Indeed, in addition to a new Ducati and a more muscular Kawasaki, there will be new faces who are already well known in the world of motorcycle speed. This is the case of Danilo Petrucci who will have a Panigale V4R at Barni but it is on the side of Yamaha and its satellite structure GRT that curiosity will be in order with a new duo which already arouses great expectations. Indeed, with the double WSS world champion Dominique Aegerter and the former Moto2 World Champion from MotoGP Remy Gardner, the Iwata firm has seriously strengthened itself in World Superbike. A winning bet?

At least that's what the Italian GRT Yamaha team led by Filippo Conti is hoping to turn the page on a more than disappointing 2022. A situation that confirms Damiano Evangelisti, GYTR GRT Technical Coordinator Yamaha which already sets the target to be achieved next year, while its two renowned drivers, but still beginners in the discipline, have not yet completed the slightest turn of the wheels on the R1... " Finishing first private team is the minimum objective for a structure like ours, tvery close to the parent company, with a high-level workforce and significant investments ».

But he also adds Motoracing : " However, we cannot aim only to win among the Independents, that would be too limiting. We would like to be in the first six. Finally next year we will have two drivers of similar level and that is very positive, it is a stimulus for us and it is also important on a technical level ».

GRT Yamaha comments on its two new riders in WSBK: “ it can do it very well«

Precisely, these new pilots… It begins with Dominique Aegerter : " I have known Dominique for years, it quickly adapts to any motorcycle as he demonstrated this year by dominating both the MotoE and Supersport World Championships. I think it could go strong right away. He has developped a great awareness of one's own value, he already knows tires and manages to quickly exit even negative episodes as he did this year after Most which then restarted as if nothing had happened. It can do very well ».

And then there is the case Remy gardner : " he's the Moto2 World Champion, a MotoGP rider and that's already a great calling card in itself. He chose to race in Superbike even though he had more advantageous economic offers to race in Moto2. It was his personal decision as he was convinced that the Superbike suited his characteristics better. It's a very positive mental approach and therefore a good starting point ". The duo will be watched closely as soon as they start in Jerez…
