ZXMoto China

A name unknown to the general public. A disproportionate ambition. A high-risk equation. With its new 820RR-RS, the young Chinese brand ZXMoto is preparing to make its debut in the Supersport World Championship in 2026. And this arrival could trigger a real domino effect in the paddock.

In 2023, Zhang Xue, then public face of Kove Moto, had already shown that he was not just coming to play a part in the world of motorcycle racing. By propelling the Chinese brand into the Supersport 300 championship and into off-road rallies, he affirmed a clear strategy: sport as a showcase of technological credibility.

But a year later, Xue left Kove after internal conflicts. Ironically, his former team withdrew, while a modest private Kove team took the lead. Benat FernandezA strategic error that Xue does not intend to repeat with ZXMoto, its new brand, designed as an industrial revenge.

The 820RR-RS prototype of ZXMoto impresses on paper: three-cylinder in-line engine, 150 horsepower in standard configuration, architecture designed for racing. Available in three versions, the bike is already positioned as an alternative to European and Japanese references.

Et ZXMoto does not intend to go to war alone: for several months, negotiations have been underway with the Evan Bros team, a prestigious and multi-titled structure with Yamaha (Krummenacher, Locatelli, Odendaal, Baldassarri). The strategy is clear: combine an emerging brand with a recognized stable for a landing that is as credible as it is formidable.

The relationship between Evan Bros and Yamaha tenses. Last thunderclap: the announced departure of Can Öncü, rising star and current runner-up in the rankings, to Ten Kate Yamaha in 2026, to replace Stefano manzi.

This loss, badly experienced by Fabio Evangelista, boss of Evan Bros, could precipitate a divorce with Yamaha . Especially since the Japanese brand now seems to be focusing its attention on other structures like Ten Kate and GMT94.

ZXMoto aims for the Supersport World Championship

The ZXMoto 820RR-RS: the first real Chinese racing supersport and a chance for Dominique Aegerter?

ZXMoto, with its financial and technological support, would be an ideal way out. But there is a catch: the young Indonesian Aldi Mahendra, already under contract for 2026, is linked to Yamaha. For the project ZXMoto sees the light of day, Evan Bros will have to break his current deal and form a new pair of pilots.

This potential change of camp has cascading repercussions. If Evan Bros joins ZXMoto, Andrea Quadranti, boss of MV Agusta Reparto Corse, could finally get the support of Yamaha , which he has been demanding for years. He would thus replace Evan Bros in the official Yamaha ecosystem.

A boon for Dominique Aegerter, double Supersport world champion, who could return to his favorite category while retaining the strategic support of the Swiss importer Hostettler (via sponsor iXS).

Quadranti states: “ The MV is 13 years old, its adjustment margin is too small. The Yamaha is the best bike today. » If he doesn't get Yamaha , Triumph is considered as an alternative.

The will to Zhang Xue is clear: place ZXMoto on international grids, whether in Supersport or the Dakar Rally, currently in preparation. Through the model 820RR-RS, China wants to show that it is no longer just capable of copying, but of competing at the highest technical and sporting level.

In a sense, the plan ZXMoto is a real-life test: will Europeans let China infiltrate their most prestigious stronghold? And above all, is the Supersport paddock ready for a commercial and political big bang from the East?

Supersport 2026, a geopolitical turning point?

The arrival of ZXMoto could mark a real industrial turning point in the history of the Supersport World Championship. It's not just a new manufacturer: it's China pushing open the doors of a European stronghold, with technology, money, a solid structure... and a long-term vision.

The only question remaining: will the authorities dare to validate this upheaval of balance?
