At Magny Cours, it is an understatement to say that the sky fell on the head of the WSBK paddock, to the point that the Supersport category had to throw in the towel, hoping for a milder Sunday to be able to compete. But before raising the white flag against the elements, there was this fantastic ride by Adrian Huertas who fought so hard in his rodeo to stay on his Ducati that it became a chapter in a life lesson…
The forecasts of the last few days did not bode well, and unfortunately, they were confirmed Magny-Cours on this hectic Saturday of the World Superbike (WorldSBK). The bad weather hit hard the Nevers-Magny-Cours circuit, the scene of the eighth round of the season. A heavy downpour disrupted plans, forcing race management to postpone some events, including Race 1 of the World Supersport Championship (WorldSSP).
Adrian Huertas shows that you should never give up
Faced with the progressive deterioration of weather conditions, the Race Direction first delayed the start of Race 1 from WorldSSP, raising the red flag as the drivers completed their sighting lap. Around 15:30 p.m., it was decided to postpone the race until the following day due to the impassability of the track and a visibility greatly reduced.
Sunday’s already packed schedule will now include WorldSSP Race 1, which will start at 9:45, replacing the warm-up, with a planned distance of 12 laps. For now, WorldSSP Race 2 remains scheduled for 14:00, and the rest of the events – including the WorldSBK Superpole Race and Race 2, as well as the WorldSSP300 and Yamaha R3 World Cup rounds – are expected to be unaffected, weather permitting.
