It is the Supersport which opens the series of races this Saturday in Indonesia, and in conditions very different from what the drivers have experienced so far on the Mandalika track. The wind has indeed picked up, the sky has become filled with clouds and tropical rain is now feared on the starting grid dominated by the Ducatis. Championship leader Bulega is in command ahead of Caricasulo and Öncü's Kawasaki. Tuuli and his Triumph, Schroetter and his MV Agusta like De Rosa with his Ducati follow, so that for the Yamaha, it looks more complicated than last weekend at Phillip Island
That being said, raindrops are starting to be detected on the cameras, and the fairing of the first R6, placed seventh by Van Straalen. Manzi is only tenth ahead McPhee. Debise is twelfth. The start will be given as conditions worsen. The wind blows with strong gusts. The rain seems inevitable. The tarmac being still dry, the drivers are on slick for the planned 18 laps.
