Magny-Cours

Race 2 of the Supersport World Championship at the Nevers-Magny Cours circuit offered a thrilling and intense competition, with overtaking, spectacular crashes, an unforgettable final sprint and even a fight between two Frenchmen in the sand trap. After nineteen laps of pure adrenaline, Yari Montella (Barni Spark Racing Team) took his fifth victory of the season, taking his career total to six. In a fierce battle, Montella had to fend off the attacks of Stefano Manzi and Adrian Huertas, two formidable riders who finished less than a second behind the winner under the chequered flag.

The race took a decisive turn on the second lap, when Montella exceeded Can Oncu, who started from pole position but finished ninth after gradually losing ground. From that point on, Montella had to fight to defend its leading position against Stefano manzi (Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing), who came back strongly after starting from eleventh place. Adrian Huertas, the championship leader, also played a leading role in this fierce fight.

The key moment of the race came at the Adelaide Hairpin, where Montella made a spectacular overtake from the outside to regain the lead at Manzi. This masterstroke allowed the 2 Moto2020 European Champion to take a valuable lead, while Manzi et Orchards continued their hunt. Thanks to this victory, Montella reduced the gap in the championship to just 14 points behind Orchards, who opted for a more conservative approach, settling for third place to maximise his points towards the title.

Honor is safe at Magny-Cours with Corentin Perolari

To Stefano manzi, who managed to shine despite a difficult start, this second place is a relief after a fall during Race 1. As for Adrian Huertas, the Spanish rider, while calculating his chances in the championship, decided not to risk a costly fall, thus ensuring a place on the podium that maintains his leading position.

Behind the leading trio, another fight took place for fourth place. Tom Booth Amos, on his Triumph PTR, achieved his best result of the season by finishing ahead of Jorge Navarro. Further away, Glenn Van Straalen took a solo sixth place, while Corentin Perolari, a wild card on a CBR 600RR, impressed by finishing seventh. The Frenchman beat several favourites, including Niki Tuuli, winner of Race 1, as well as Can Oncu et Marcel Schroetter.

Unfortunately, the race was also marked by a dramatic altercation between Lucas Mahias et Valentine Debise, which led to the retirement of both drivers at the Lycée Complex with six laps to go. Mahias was taken to the medical center for tests, although the news regarding his health condition is reassuring.

The next round of the championship will take place at the brand new Cremona circuit, promising new twists and turns in the fight for the title.
