Yamaha Motor Europe is pleased to announce the launch of a new category of road racing designed to pave the way to the world stage for young riders.

The FIM Yamaha R3 European Cup blue cRU , a collaboration between Yamaha, FIM Europe and Dorna WSBK Organization (DWO), supported by JiR (Japan Italy Racing), will be contested across eight races during the European rounds of the 2020 FIM Superbike World Championship and will be open to riders aged 12 at 15.

The FIM Yamaha R3 European Cup blue cRU was designed as the ideal first step for young drivers aspiring to the world championship. The category will be contested exclusively on the Yamaha YZF-R3, which has already won in the highly competitive FIM Supersport 300 World Championship, with a grid of 36 riders from around the world expected to line up for the first round in 2020.

The FIM Yamaha R3 European Cup blue cRU will be a fully supported category, with riders receiving a ready-to-race Yamaha YZF-R3, with a complete package including Pirelli tyres, support and technical assistance, at a total cost of 35 euros per season, allowing them to simply ride present and run.

The series will be televised, with races also broadcast live online for free. A set of highlights including rider interviews and background information will also be available for free after each round.

Financial rewards will be awarded, with 10 euros for the championship winner, 000 euros for the driver ranked second in the category at the end of the season, and 7 euros for the driver who finishes third in the general classification. Each race winner will receive 500 euros. In addition, the first three drivers in the category at the end of the season will be guaranteed automatic participation in the selection. blue cRU Yamaha Motor Europe Masterclass, where they will compete for annual support for the following season.
