Qualified on the fourth row on the starting grid for the Monster Energy Grand Prix of the Czech Republic in Brno, Loris Baz (Reale Avintia Racing) was in ninth position on the third lap before going to the box to change machines; maneuver during which he had bad luck by causing one of these mechanics to fall.

Coming out in 14th place, the Frenchman gradually set his pace to climb to the edge of the Top 10, not far from Jack Miller (EG 0,0 Marc VDS). Even though he had to concede a little ground, he nevertheless managed to stay in the points before making a mistake.

Although disappointed, Loris Baz, who had undergone an operation for compartment syndrome during the summer break, gave a rather positive assessment of this tenth meeting of the season before heading to Spielberg for the #AustrianGP.

Loris Baz : “It was a complicated race. The choice of tires proved tricky on the grid, we even considered going on slicks. We proceeded as usual in these situations: we set the second bike as the one we line up with on the grid. As soon as the start is given, the team then configures the bike for the dry, and this takes at least three laps. I would have liked to change machines on the first pass, but I knew I had to be patient. On the way back, I dropped the bike on my mechanic due to the limited space in Brno on the pit lane. This distracted me a little, but it didn't take long for me to get into my rhythm. I gradually lost grip at the rear and the bike became more difficult to turn. Maybe I pushed a little too hard to get back on Miller since I fell. It's a shame, because it's a wasted opportunity to score points. Still, I'm happy with what we accomplished during qualifying. But even if we manage to record fast lap times, we still suffer on long runs. However, we do our best to find the ideal set-up for the races. The Spielberg circuit usually suits the Ducati. So I hope to get a good result there. »
