Press release from Reale Avintia Racing MotoGP

After crashing during MotoGP testing at the Barcelona – Catalunya circuit on Wednesday, Reale Avintia Racing rider Tito Rabat spent a night at the Quiron Dexeus University Hospital in Barcelona, where Dr. Ángel Charte, MotoGP medical director, MotoGP traumatologist Dr Xavier Mir and in-house specialist Dr Jordi Robert took care of the 28-year-old.

On Thursday morning, Rabat was given the green light to leave hospital and set his sights on competing in the next round at Mugello next week, despite suffering a left arm injury. During an ultrasound, Rabat was diagnosed with a three-centimeter-long muscle rupture. Dr. Xavier Mir and his team decided that surgery was not necessary and simply immobilized Rabat's left arm. Tito will now return home to Valencia, where he will undergo cold therapy sessions to speed up the recovery of muscle tissue over the coming days.

Rabat will return to Barcelona next Tuesday for another ultrasound. The doctors will then decide whether his participation in the Italian Grand Prix will be possible or not. Rabat wants to ride his Ducati at Mugello at all costs. Even if the final answer will not be given until next week, everyone in the team is convinced that Rabat will achieve its goal.

Tito Rabat: “I have already been able to leave the hospital. My treatment could not have been better, both at the circuit and at the Dexeus clinic, where Dr. Charte and Dr. Mir gave me the best care imaginable. Yesterday we thought it would be almost impossible to race at Mugello because I felt like I needed an operation. But this morning we did some more checks and decided to leave the arm in a cast for a week. Next week we will check the injury again. This year has been good for us so far, we have been very competitive, and that's why we want to try everything to get back in shape and be able to ride at Mugello. I would like to thank everyone for the extraordinary help and support I have received since this accident.”
