Red Bull's message is clear: they need to act quickly. Having struggled at the start of the 2026 season, the Austrian team has officially announced a major reorganization of its technical department. Presented as a strategic decision, it appears to be primarily an urgent response to the difficulties encountered on the track.
Red Bull is already taking action
Accustomed to dominating the Formula 1 In recent years, the Milton Keynes team has experienced a much more turbulent start to the season. The competition has closed in, the results are less clear-cut, and the car seems far from its former dominance.
Immediate consequence: Ben Waterhouse is promoted with immediate effect to the position of Chief Performance and Design Engineer. He will report directly to the Technical Director Pierre Waché.
Red Bull presents this decision as a "evolution" An internal strategy aimed at strengthening the organization's efficiency. A diplomatic phrase, but one that reveals a need for rapid change.
"Accelerate development"
In its press release, the team specifies that this new structure " strengthens the integration between these areas and will allow to accelerate the development of competitive and high-performing solutions.

When a dominant team changes its decision-making processes this early in the season, it rarely reflects a simple routine optimization. In the paddock, many will see it as the first real warning sign of the post-Red Bull dominance era.
Waterhouse, a home solution
Ben Waterhouse is not a stranger. Arrived from Sauber in 2014, having passed through Toro RossoHe then climbed the ranks within the group before heading up performance engineering at Red Bull.
