20When conditions are difficult, the friendly Czech often displays his talent, and he has just done so once again on the Bugatti circuit by setting the sixth fastest time on this first day, beaten by only one factory bike, the Honda by Marc Marquez. With a not really very recent Ducati GP15, this is an excellent result which will perhaps allow Abraham to qualify directly for Q2.

This sixth place in the morning was not confirmed in the afternoon on the wet track, due to a technical problem which only allowed him to complete seven laps, and even then not at the most favorable time. He therefore had to settle for twenty-second and penultimate position in the wet.

It will be interesting to follow Karel's progress this Saturday during FP3, to see if he manages to qualify in the top 10. It may be difficult because the weather forecast is for a dry track. On the other hand, he could well be talked about again in the afternoon during qualifying, for which the weather forecast predicts rain.

For Karel Abraham, “ I think it was a really good day for us because in the morning it was my first time on the new tarmac and my first time on this track for two years.

“We managed to use slick tires at the end of the morning session and got into the top ten, which was important for us. The afternoon was also good for us, I was in eighth place, but we had a little technical problem, so I had to stop while we resolved it.

“I went back for a lap just to check, but it didn't make sense to complete more laps. The position in the afternoon doesn't look good because I'm in second last place, but when I was on the track I was quite comfortably in the top ten.

“We don't look at the result, but the performance and the performance was very good this Friday. »
