A man in the shadows who is essential to the French Grand Prix, his name will probably not mean much to you, but Martin Goureau was, among other things, the extremely kind person who explained to us in great detail why the times were going strongly descend after the asphalt repair of the Bugatti circuit at Le Mans last year.

Track manager of the Automobile Club de l'Ouest and safety manager of the French Moto Grand Prix, he was above all passionate about his job, and managed to share this enthusiasm with us in just a few minutes (see his exclusive interview here).

It is therefore with great sadness that we learned of his passing and that the Paddock-GP team presents its most sincere condolences to his family.

Press release from Claude Michy, promoter of the French Grand Prix:

 Death of Martin Goureau

We were saddened to learn of the passing of Martin Goureau, track manager of the Automobile Club de l'Ouest and safety manager of the French Moto Grand Prix for many years. All our thoughts are with his family and loved ones.

“To you who gave everything for the safety of others, you found yourself alone after your sporting activity that you loved so much. The engine failed and there were no mechanics at the stand. There are no words to describe this feeling of injustice. We loved your character, your derision, your efficiency and your humanity. We will miss you. Peace to your soul."
