In difficulty since the start of the season, the Aprilia rider had a good weekend and above all a good race which allows him to be more confident for the next Grand Prix.

We know it, Scott Redding is having a lot of difficulty adapting to his Aprilia, a machine he has been discovering since the start of the season. Despite two blank results at Le Mans and Mugello, he managed to score points on several occasions, notably thanks to his two twelfth places in Argentina and Barcelona.

The start of the weekend in Assen was, however, more complicated. First twenty-first in FP1 then in FP2, he progressed a little in FP3 where he finished eighteenth, but did not manage to automatically qualify for Q2. He then finished seventeenth in FP4 before qualifying in the same place in Q1.

Starting from quite a distance, the race promised to be a little difficult, but the British driver overtook a few drivers, and even his own teammate for a time, before finishing fourteenth, his second best result of the season.

Even if he is still far from what he would like to do, Redding is satisfied with his race and sees himself progressing little by little: “I'm happy, especially with the consistency I was able to maintain during the race. We made the right tire choice. After the warm up, I considered the option of the hard tire, thinking about the length of the race, but after riding well with the soft during practice, it was smarter to race with this one. . I had fun, being near Pol and Aleix and trying to defend myself from Pedrosa's attacks. We worked well, calmly, without pressure and the results are there. It's a small improvement. Now we must continue in this direction. »
