It definitely wasn't Dani Pedrosa's weekend! After having had a complicated Friday then a disastrous Saturday, the Honda Repsol driver had an even worse Sunday.

It's been a long time since we last saw Dani Pedrosa so many difficulties. Always outside the top 10 during testing, whether Friday or Saturday, he crashed in FP4, damaging his bike. Forced to take second which did not have the same settings for qualifying, he was unable to escape to take part in Q2, and on the contrary qualified only twentieth.

The Spanish rider has never qualified so far in MotoGP. His worst qualification, a sixteenth place, dates from the Turkish Grand Prix in 2006. You have to go back to his very first year in 125cc in 2001 to find a place even further than this in qualifying!

It was therefore a first for Pedrosa, and if he managed to finally find a good feeling during the Warm Up this morning, thus finishing eighth, this remained the only positive point of the weekend. Indeed, barely had the race started when he fell, taking Takaaki Nakagami with him.

This blank result closes an extremely complicated Grand Prix: “The weekend was very difficult, we encountered many problems to have a good feeling. It was only this morning that we were able to find a setting that gave me confidence. Unfortunately, I started from very far back on the grid, and that often increases the risks. My goal was to recover positions at the start. I passed a few riders but found myself parallel to Nakagami when I hit Bautista's rear tire and crashed, taking Takaaki away. I am really sorry. It's also a shame that I wasn't able to see how our settings were working, or how many places I would have been able to make up during the race. »
