Before the French Grand Prix, nWe had the privilege of being able to interview Eric de Seynes, the atypical boss of Yamaha Motor Europe who does not hesitate to swap his suit for leather, in order to take stock of our two French riders in MotoGP, but also on the big effort made by Yamaha for the benefit of the competition through its important program blue cRU.

As always, his lighting is particularly interesting and we thank him greatly for it.

It is perhaps still a little too early to talk about the future of these drivers, although… Discussions regarding 2021 will begin in just a few months. So let's imagine that Valentino Rossi retires at the end of 2020: logic would then dictate that we transfer the best rider from the Yamaha satellite team to the factory team, and today Fabio Quartararo seems to have the potential for that. At that moment, wouldn't the dream of a French enthusiast like you be, after a difficult period with the Austrian manufacturer, to "recover" the driver he loved so much by offering him a place on a factory bike that he particularly likes within the satellite team? We are obviously talking about Johann Zarco...

Eric de Seynes : “I think that all these imaginations are indeed part of the imagination, but that they are imaginations which are possible. Anyway, I always told Johann « you know, you were a Yamaha rider. Throughout your Moto2 era, we worked together and my goal was to bring you to Tech3. We got there… I don’t forget! ». When I go to the grid, I will still greet Johann, even if he is on KTM. For me, the attachment of a brand to its pilots and its men goes beyond the current situation. When I was at Assen the other day, I greeted Lucas (Mahias) on the grid and wished him a good race. I've worked too hard with and for Lucas to ignore him the next day. The race deserves better!

So for Johann, everyone understands the difficult period he is in, and it is very important that he remains focused on his objective of understanding the bike, of making the bike progress, and he will be judged on this assessment. Today, we cannot judge the results of what Johann does tersely; It would be incredibly unfair for a rider who was vice-world champion in Moto3, who was double world champion in Moto2 and who had the seasons he did in MotoGP! So I don't have a short memory: the KTM time will be the KTM time, and if there must be another time behind, obviously Yamaha will look at that carefully! ".

To be continued tomorrow…
