Although qualified on the sixth row, the Ducati rider believes he can do well in the race at Mugello. After a tricky first day, Loris Baz wasted no time in getting to work at Mugello on Saturday morning to try to correct his dribbling problems with the new front tire.

Forced to move into Q1, the Haut-Savoyard missed moving into Q2 by only a few tenths with a time of 1'47.809. Despite his efforts, Baz will have to start from 17th place on the grid alongside Andrea Iannone and Pol Espargaró against whom he intends to compete to score new points.

Loris Baz:
“We continued our work and found some solutions to our problems during the morning. We then tested a set-up at the end of the final practice session, but I was forced to stop because some people thought there was a problem with my engine. So I took advantage of Q1 to evaluate our changes, but it's never easy to do it during qualifying with such little time.

“We were heading into the unknown, but it worked very well. I also changed my riding style to be more at the front of the bike. I was doing a good lap when my tire overheated and I almost crashed. In preparation for the race, we will take advantage of the warm-up to determine our choice of tires.

“We have corrected our dribbling problems somewhat. So I think hard might be an option. I think many of us have the same rhythm. The race will be both tight and very physical. You will have to be wise to get the maximum points, just like at Le Mans. »
