It would obviously not be unpleasant for Jorge, Gigi Dall'Igna and the Reds to impose their Desmosedici on Sunday at the Twin Ring Motegi, at Honda, and against Yamaha.

The interesting thing is that Lorenzo and Ducati each have, independently, an appreciable track record. Jorge won in MotoGP there in 2009, 2013 and 2014 (always on Yamaha). He also achieved pole position four times there, in 2008, 2012, 2013 and 2015.

There is even a fifth pole position to his credit, in 2006 in 250, on an Aprilia driven by Gigi Dall'Igna! And at the time he achieved this pole in front of a Honda driven by a certain… Andrea Dovizioso! Isn't the world small?

Ducati for its part was not necessarily in good form on all the circuits, but the Twin Ring Motegi track was often successful for it, with for example three consecutive victories for Loris Capirossi in 2005, 2006 and 2007. There is also a red victory in 2010 for Casey Stoner, who was crowned World Champion with Ducati at Motegi in 2007.

To deduce that the Lorenzo-Ducati pair will be the winning pair on Sunday would perhaps be going a bit too quickly, but it is worth remembering that Jorge is the holder of the two circuit records, the unofficial one achieved during the tests in 1'43.790 (at an average of 166,5 km/h) in 2015 and the official one achieved in the race in 1'45.350 (164,0 km/h) in 2014. For good measure, Andrea Iannone achieved the best top speed there with 314,3 km/h in 2015.

To Jorge Lorenzo, who are " The podium in Aragon was very important for the team and it confirmed that we were going in the right direction. Now the last part of the season is about to start with three races in a row and my goal is still the same: to fight for the podium and try to achieve my first victory with Ducati. »

“Motegi is one of my favorite circuits, and I have managed to win there several times in the past. I think our bike adapts well to the characteristics of this track and therefore we will have a real possibility of obtaining a good result. »
