Augusto Fernandez (Red Bull KTM Ajo) will start from pole position in the Moto2 Grand Prix of Aragón scheduled for this Sunday at Motorland Aragón. The leader of the Moto2 world championship and future MotoGP rider for GASGAS takes his second pole position this season, his third in Moto2. For the Spanish driver who is 4 points ahead of Ai Ogura (IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia) which will remain in Moto2, it is the seventh front row obtained in the intermediate category.

Alongside him on the front row, we find the drivers of the Shimoko GASGAS Aspar Team, Albert Arenas et Jake dixon, respectively beaten by 0.124s and 0.291s. The British driver was the victim of a very big fall in turn #2 this morning during warm up and his Kalex was very severely damaged: no injury for number 96 but perhaps surprises in store for his machine...

Alonso lopez (CAG Speed Up), the fastest in the third and final free practice session, finished fourth and will start from the second row alongsideAron Canet (Flexbox HP40), 3rd in the championship with 41 points, and the rookie Peter Acosta (Red Bull KTM Ajo), 3 Moto2021 champion.

Third line for Tony Arbolino (Elf Marc VDS Racing Team) and for the IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia duo composed ofAi Ogura et Somkiat Chantra, while these qualifications are to be forgotten for the ex-leader of the championship Celestine Vietti (Mooney VR46 Racing Team) who will only start from the 17th box after having fallen without physical consequences. He is the only one to use a soft rear tire.

This race in Aragon will take place over 21 laps of the 5077 meter track with excellent track conditions, temperatures being 26° in the air and 30° on the ground under a sky which is starting to clear.

Before knowing which of the 30 drivers will win, here is the table which summarizes the facts known so far.

When the red lights go out... Augusto Fernández keeps the advantage of his pole position in front of the two Aspar drivers but at the exit of the second turn Alonso lopez falls losing the front. Marcel Schrötter also makes a mistake in the same place a few moments later.

On your mind, Augusto Fernandez is very slightly detached in front Jake Dixon, Arón Canet, Pedro Acosta, Albert Arenas and Ai Ogura.

In the second round, Albert Arenas loses control of his Kalex at turn 2.

Augusto Fernandez appears on a different pace and already has almost two seconds ahead on the third lap where he precedes Peter Acosta who took the advantage Aron Canet. Tony Arbolino moved up to fourth position ahead of Jake dixon et Ai Ogura while the peloton is led by Joe Roberts.

Under the impulsion of Peter Acosta, the gap with his teammate narrowed significantly and was only 0,9 seconds at the start of the eighth lap.

Aron Canet takes over the counterattack at the moment when Peter Acosta slows down slightly on a dirty part of the track but the duo's pace does not weaken and the junction is made on the ninth lap.

In the process, the trio is joined by Tony Arbolino who attacks immediately Aron Canet while Peter Acosta takes the lead of the race in front Augusto Fernández  in the 11th round.

Behind the two Ajo Motorsport drivers, Arón Canet manages to get the best out of Tony Arbolino for third place, and even managed to break away from the driver Marc VDS. Behind, the fight is fierce between Jake Dixon, Ai Ogura and Fermin Aldeguer...

Gradually, Peter Acosta escapes and has a 1,7 second lead five laps from the checkered flag.

The Spanish rider is therefore heading towards his second victory in Moto2 after that of Mugello, without giving any favors to his teammate who is fighting for the world title. He also suffered an attack fromAron Canet three laps from the finish.

If the three steps of the podium now seem finalized, the uncertainty remains until the last lap where Ai Ogura takes the best of Tony Arbolino while Jake dixon makes a mistake.

In the championship, Augusto Fernandez increases its lead to 7 points over Ai Ogura whileAron Canet reduced its deficit to 37 units.
