Moto2 returns to Balaton Park for the eighth round of its season, and Manuel Gonzalez has perhaps never been more confident. With two consecutive victories, the championship leader holds a 34,5-point advantage over Izan Guevara in the standings before this weekend's points allocation. Meanwhile, David Alonso returns to the scene of his first Moto8 victory, hoping to bounce back after some difficult races.

The Moto2 riders didn't wait long to erase the benchmark set last year by Diogo Moreira. In the second practice session of the weekend, Manuel Gonzalez clocked a time of 1'40.229, breaking the record set by the Brazilian during the first race held by the intermediate category at Balaton Park in 2025. Already fastest in the morning session, the two-time defending champion made an immediate impact at this eighth round of the year. He could already secure his fourth victory this year.

However, watch out for David Alonso, winner of the event last year, who is only two tenths of a second behind the Intact GP driver, in 2nd position on the scoreboard at the end of the day.
Although he had a more complicated day, Izan Guevara (11th) finished with the essential goal secured: qualification for Q2, awarded to the top 14. The same is true for the Belgian driver, Barry Baltus, who finished 13th in the afternoon session.
