Raul Fernandez may not be World Champion, but he did not leave Moto2 empty-handed after a first season in the category which was also his last. The rookie who enigmatically declared having been the victim of maneuvers on the part of his own team to make his course more difficult still won eight victories, a score never seen by a beginner in the discipline. A record that even Marc Marquez could not present in his time, and that was with a 600 Honda engine. Since then, it is the three-cylinder Triumph which has equipped this starting grid. And this offers some advantages at the end of the campaign…

Advantages like being able to get back on the handlebars of a Street Triple RS personalized. An exclusive motorcycle, equipped with the 765 cm3 three-cylinder from which the engine derives Moto2, with more than 140 hp. But before that, you must have won the Triumph Triple Trophy which was in its second edition this year. The #PoweredbyTriumph Triumph Triple Trophy awards points to drivers in three categories: weekend top speed (7 points), pole position (6 points) and fastest race lap (5 points).

Categories in which the Madrid player Raul Fernandez imposed itself with authority. So much so that he won his case at the Algarve Grand Prix. But he had to wait until the next deadline in Valencia to receive his prize. Steve Sargent, Triumph Product Manager, commented: “ what a season we had! Congratulations to Remy Gardner for winning the title in 2021 and following in his father's footsteps 34 years later ».

Raul Fernandez is the winner of the 2021 Triumph Triple Trophy

Fortunately, he also congratulated Raúl Fernández after an exceptional season: “ we are proud that Raúl won the 2021 Triumph Triple Trophy. His exceptional talent really shone through this year before his time in MotoGP with Remy. I am sure that his experience with the Triumph 765cc Triumph and the Moto2 electronics and tires will be of great help to him in his move to the premier class. This is one of the main objectives of our first three years in Moto2: make the category much more relevant and meaningful in terms of progression for drivers ».

We will recall that Raul fernandez is now in MotoGP within the team Tech3 KTM with the reigning Moto2 World Champion Remy gardner as a teammate. The duo is one of the five rookies that MotoGP will have in 2022. During the two days of testing in Jerez, it was Fabio DiGiannantonio who showed himself to be the fastest of the beginners, with a Ducati from the Gresini team.
