MotoGP – Adidas wants to dress Rossi: is VR46 ready to change its livery?

Adidas could replace Kappa and outfit the VR46 team. Valentino Rossi According to GPOne, it could happen as early as 2027. Nothing is official yet.

Adidas could soon swap the Formula 1 paddocks for the MotoGP paddock. According GP OneThe German brand is reportedly eyeing the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team for 2027, with the idea of outfitting the entire team. Valentino RossiThe conditional tense remains necessary: no agreement has been officially announced. But the project would certainly attract attention, especially in the year that MotoGP is preparing for a transformation.

Adidas is reportedly targeting the VR46 as early as 2027.

According to the Italian media, Adidas will replace Robe di Kappa , whose partnership with the team is set to expire at the end of this year. The German brand is already familiar with motorsport: it notably supplies equipment to Mercedes in Formula 1. It would thus be entering the MotoGP paddock by partnering with an immediately recognizable team, bearing Rossi's name and colors.

For now, however, this is just a rumor reported by GPOne. The media outlet specifies that Adidas could outfit the entire team, but mentions neither a signing nor an announcement from the parties involved. This distinction is important: in sports, a brand "on a team's radar" is not yet a brand on its jerseys. The three stripes are therefore not yet ready to replace the Kappa logo in the VR46 box.

The timing would make sense. In 2027, MotoGP will enter a new technical era, with 850cc motorcycles and the arrival of Pirelli as a tire supplier. In a season of upheaval, teams are renewing their identity as much as they are preparing their machines. For a global brand, establishing itself in the championship at that time would offer a prime showcase. For VR46 , it would be an opportunity to give a fresh look to a team that is already preparing to renew its rider lineup.

Fermín Aldeguer and Nicolò Bulega have indeed been announced as joining the VR46 team for 2027. Bulega 's arrival has been confirmed by the championship: the Italian will make his full-time MotoGP debut after his time in Superbike, and will return to a team he has known since his early days in the paddock. He explained that joining the team was a dream and that he didn't want to " set any goals " before experiencing the category, preferring to take it race by race.

This new duo represents an interesting mix: Aldeguer, a young pilot already established in MotoGP, and Open upwho will be making the jump from the Superbike championship. But the change of livery obviously won't be enough to make the Ducati faster or guarantee podium finishes. The benefit of a partnership like the one mentioned would lie elsewhere: giving the team visibility, developing products for fans, and associating Adidas to a very strong sports brand, that of Valentino Rossi.

The deal would also extend Adidas 's strategy in motorsport. In Formula 1 , the sportswear company has partnered with Mercedes and also forged closer ties with Audi. MotoGP would open up a new audience, with a different kind of connection between riders, teams, and fans. And the association with VR46 wouldn't be a random choice: Rossi remains one of the most popular figures in motorcycling, even though he has retired from the premier class.

For Team VR46 , the challenge would also be to preserve an instantly recognizable visual identity. Fluorescent yellow and black are part of the team's DNA. A new kit supplier would have to work with this heritage rather than discard it in favor of a standard collection. Adidas knows how to transform its sports collaborations into mass-market products; it remains to be seen whether Tavullia's colors would lend themselves to a collection strong enough to appeal to both fans and fashion enthusiasts.

According to GPOne, Adidas could dress the whole team VR46 from 2027 and take the place of Robe of Kappawhose partnership is set to end at the end of the year. The German brand is therefore targeting the team of Valentino Rossi at the moment when the MotoGP is about to experience a major technological revolution. Fermín Aldeguer et Nicholas Bulega will form the pilot duo of VR46 next season.

If a contract were to materialize, Adidas would supply the outfits; but the tenths of a cent would remain the responsibility of the drivers.
