To the great dismay of Aprilia, the news about its “captain” Aleix Espargaró remains medical after his cycling accident just before the Italian Grand Prix last weekend, for which he acknowledges his total responsibility. . Despite a heel that made him suffer, he was still the best driver of the brand of the Tuscan weekend, which inevitably raised questions about his teammate Maverick Viñales. Here we are now on the Sachsenring and the dean of the MotoGP grid knows a little more about his injury which is anything but trivial…

When we listen Aleix Espargaró on his injury, we wonder how he was able to make the last Italian Grand Prix and even how he will be able to face the turnstile of Sachsenring who awaits him this weekend… “ Monday I had an MRI and it turns out that I have two fractures at the level of the talus, a large edema at the level of the bones and ligaments, so it's a pretty serious injury, my foot was huge on Monday ».

A diagnosis that did not discourage him: “ during these 3 days I did many treatments, 6 hours of magnetotherapy per day and more, I was practically 12 hours a day on the couch working with my physiotherapist. The doctors advised me not to walk, not to put my foot on the ground. Fortunately the Sachsenring route is different from that of Mugello and I should have less pain. I will try to do my best, then I will go directly to Assen by motorhome, this is the first time I have done this, because I want to limit travel with my foot ».

Aleix Espargaró: “ it would take four weeks of convalescence but we know who we are and that we have to run »

And he specifies GP One : " normally it would take 4 weeks of recovery, but we know who we are and that we have to run. If I walk it hurts but I think I'll be able to drive ". But in the family I will espargaro, he is not the only one to be injured. So he also talks about his brother Pol : " the situation Pol is in makes me angry, because I would have liked him to be here in the race. We met yesterday and it's very sad ».

And all the more so as Assen, in a week’s time, is to be dotted for his younger brother… “ I don't think he will be there. He takes exams every week, but if they didn't allow him to race at Mugello and here, I don't think they will at Assen, which is in a few days » he finishes.
