Izan Guevara has some ground to make up on Manuel Gonzalez, whose IntactGP team is competing in its home Moto2 Grand Prix in Germany this weekend. Heading into the 11th round of the season, 57,5 points separate the two men at the top of the championship. However, they are not the only ones battling at the front, as Senna Agius is racking up podium finishes while David Alonso is gaining momentum and secured his first victory of the year at Assen. It should be noted that for the German GP, Belgian rider Barry Baltus – still recovering from injury – will once again be replaced by Jorge Navarro.

After securing his first Moto2 victory in Brno, Ivan Ortola continued his winning streak. Starting from pole position in the German Moto2 Grand Prix, he immediately took the lead. Only Dani Holgado, who started fourth on the grid but had made an excellent start to the race, was able to keep up. The two riders battled wheel-to-wheel until the final corners. However, Ortola managed to defend his position intelligently, particularly in the last corner where he faced a final attack from the Aspar rider. He thus crossed the finish line victorious.

Izan Guevara completed the podium two seconds behind, after a solo finish, with Senna Agius just four seconds adrift. Taiyo Furusato rounded out the top five, right behind the Australian, who was beaten at the line by a mere 59 thousandths of a second. Starting from the front row, Manuel Gonalez had a chaotic start to the race, repeatedly overtaken by his rivals. He finished well behind the winner – nearly ten seconds adrift – and conceded a few points to Izan Guevara in the overall standings. This was his first race of the season outside the top five, a disappointing result for his team, who were racing on home soil at the Sachsenring.

The race was also marked by crashes, including one involving David Alonso early in the event, who suffered a highside. Celestino Vietti was also among the day's unfortunate drivers, making a mistake halfway through the race.
