Andrea Iannone had to put an end to his racing career for a dark story of doping which nevertheless proved sufficiently credible to the FIM for it to suspend him for a few years. A sad affair with serious consequences for someone who still has a lively social life and who has opened a few restaurants. But motorcycling remains the raison d'être of “Joe the Maniac” who went to drag his gaiters near Misano during the San Marino Grand Prix weekend. The opportunity for him to see that he still has the sacred fire of MotoGP within him…
Andrea Iannone was built through a motorcycle competition of which he is currently deprived because of a sanction which is none other than a brutal banishment. But if he can no longer ride in a competition organized by the FIM, he can still visit a paddock which was his natural environment until this doping story. Former pilot Ducati et Aprilia, he appreciated the expedition, and in particular with his former employer in Noale, who supported him until the last moment in his disciplinary procedure, to the point of being one of the collateral consequences...
Iannone said of his former playmates: “ I'm really happy for Aprilia » commented Joe the Maniac on Sky. “ After the difficult period they had to go through, partly because of the difficulty of returning to MotoGP, and partly because of my story, they are experiencing a positive moment. Here with them I still feel like family, I'm fine ».

Andrea Iannone: “ before I go to sleep and when I wake up, I always think about that”
He is doing well, he says, but all the same, there is a cruel lack that he cannot deny or fill: “there is a year and a half left before the end of the disqualification » he says, admitting that he is almost counting the days. “ The fire in me is still there. Before I go to sleep and when I wake up, I always think about that, motorcycles and racing, I think that's my life. But there's no point in thinking about it too much, otherwise you feel bad... ". But he adds: “ whenever I can, I ride a motorcycle. I also came to ride here in Misano. And I also went quickly... ". A subjective evaluation but one that says a lot about the state of mind of a person. Iannone who still has 18 months to ruminate while watching the MotoGP from his sofa.
