The start of the season with Suzuki has been more difficult than expected for Andrea, who currently only occupies a modest fifteenth position in the provisional Championship standings with 9 points.

Iannone had difficulty adapting to the GSX-RR, but occasionally managed good performances. Unfortunately his teammate Alex Rins was injured, and only Andrea was able to develop the Suzuki. The seventh place obtained in Austin was a great reward for his efforts.

In a recent interview with an Italian television channel, he said that “ The first two races were very difficult. We were never as competitive as we wanted to be. Maybe my expectations were too high.

“Now we have lowered the level a bit, we can try to stabilize and bring home what we can achieve for now.

“We figured out what we need to do to improve, and we’re trying. We treated the Austin race like it was a test, trying to get to the best possible place. Many times we have made improvements, but the solution to resolve our situation is still not there.

“Obviously I'm not happy with what I've achieved, because we're here to reach the top and, right now, we don't have the tools to do that. But we have to do it soon, because I want to fight with those who are at the top of this category. »
