Mir Assen

For Joan Mir, the Grands Prix follow one another and are similar. And this has been going on since last year. Except that, during this time, competition is gaining strength. Recovering from modest qualifications therefore becomes more and more complicated. Before the summer break, the World Champion updates his list of grievances towards Suzuki. For the race of this Dutch Grand Prix, he does not really know what awaits him. However, he has one objective: to get closer to the Yamahas to better study them and find their faults…

Joan mir was very clear when taking stock of his qualifications: “ I am particularly disappointed with the qualifications this Saturday. The truth is that I expected a little more, I don't accept the time I did because it's a slow time. I couldn't push for a decent ride. I ride 33.0 with hard tires and it's very difficult for me to go down three tenths, it is not normal ».

He adds : " others can go down a second, which is normal, but in my case it's not like that. For me, the package that we have, at the moment, there is something up in qualifying. Everything has to be put in place, I also have to improve and, surely also, my style does not favor the subject ».

« I don't think we have an advantage either, but it's difficult for me to exploit the Suzuki's potential in qualifying. Concerning Alex Rins, I think that at certain moments in qualifying, he manages to do a better lap, a few tenths. Sometimes I have a better pace than him, so it's something we have to analyze to know how I should use the bike and give us something else to fight at the front » said the Majorcan.

He ends with this chronic illness of Saturday afternoon : " it's very difficult to understand what motorcycling is and I need to be a little more competitive. It is not possible that with a hard rubber, which has much less grip, on the tenth lap I do a 1'33.0 and that in qualifying I can only do a 1'32.7 by stripping myself. It's a problem that is there and one day we will solve it ».

Mir: “Viñales?” It’s another bike, it’s not possible otherwise”

Joan mir then evaluates the competition: “ the Ducatis always come out on top, the problem is still there and we have to face it. You have to be smart. I think the Ducatis did a spectacular ride, but they don't have much pace in the race. We have to exploit our virtues tomorrow in the race, we will see where we are. I'll have to do good first laps. My goal is to be close to first, to the podium, to manage and do things well. We will see ».

« I don't look at the championship, I work with the package I have, it's my job and last year I did the same thing. This year, it's the same, but it costs a little more. I'll try to do my thing on Sunday, be close to the Yamaha and see what happens at the end of the race. Whether they have a better ride may mean that the rubber falls more or not, I don't know. You have to see it up close and be glued to them. The official Yamahas here are doing very well, both ».

He ends on a Casa Particular in Viñales last a week ago and in pole position this Saturday: “ They changed the whole bike anyway. It's another bike because it can't be otherwise, it's not normal. It can't be that the bike that doesn't help him in Germany will allow him to fly to Assen. There is something ».
