The Suzuki team is making changes in 2019: Andrea Iannone has left, it is now the young Alex Rins who takes the role of first driver facing the new arrival, Joan Mir. And that really pleases the team manager, Davide Brivio.

Le Suzuki team has gained momentum this year and hopes to continue its momentum next year, thanks to the experience that Álex Rins has acquired over the last two years, and the raw talent of rookie Joan Mir who arrives from Moto2. Davide Brivio, the team's team manager, spoke with speedweek about his two foals.

Now that Andrea Iannone has left for Aprilia, the role of leader within the team falls to Alex Rins and the pressure will therefore increase on his shoulders: “He continues to progress. Last year he was a beginner but this year he learned and showed his talent. We expected that when we hired him. Of course the pressure will increase but that's part of the sport. He will be our point of reference, our experienced pilot to tell us what is happening on the machine. Especially during the first races. He should not see this as pressure, but rather as extra motivation. He must now take a new step and we all know that it is far from simple. »

On the other side of the box, we will find the young Joan mir, 21 years old, and Brivio has great hopes in him: “This will be his first year, but he has a lot of talent. We will see if the high expectations will be met. If we go in the right direction, helping him understand MotoGP, he will be able to show his value. I think he could be one of the best drivers on the grid. »

If you feel like you want to take the internal duels are often not to the taste of the teams, at Suzuki on the other hand, we hope that they will take place: “The competition within the team helped us because Andrea and Álex constantly tried to excel. Everything followed accordingly: the bike progressed, the riders matured and the results improved compared to last year. In 2019 I hope that Joan and Álex will face each other in an internal team duel because we know that this is what makes them faster and it benefits the team by bringing better results. »
