Alex Marquez did not start the Sprint at Brno, and will not be on the grid for the Czech Grand Prix tomorrow at 14 p.m. As we announced to you a few hours agoThe Gresini Racing rider chose to withdraw from this race to protect himself. Physically, he's fine, but the current accident-prone climate in MotoGP doesn't inspire confidence; he doesn't want to risk further injury from a crash at the start, for example. He explains the reasons for his withdrawal.
Alex Marquez made the sensible choice this Saturday, conserving his energy for the rest of the season. After qualifying, he withdrew from the race. "I want to clarify that I'm not stopping because I feel unwell; in truth, on the motorcycle, it was going rather well. No, it's just that I want to avoid risks. In a race, the risks are enormous; there can always be an incident. The team has been trying to stop me since yesterday, so we tried to do a good job, and then we made this decision after the qualifying session. I'm going to stay here in Brno with the physiotherapist. I won't be going back to Catalonia. » he declared to our microphones.

However, his pace was decent, as evidenced by his 14th place on the starting grid. « I was faster than expectedThese extra few days might help, and I hope to spend a full weekend in Assen. It's true that I still feel tired; I need to take a little more time. But with each passing day, my health is improving a little. Assen is a difficult circuit to come back to, but we'll give it a try. » he added.

He insists he hasn't been affected mentally and remains hopeful for the upcoming races. Time is what he needs, and unfortunately, that's what he lacks. “I had some doubts before the weekend. But mentally, I was still ready.” I know I'll get back to 100%. It just takes time and training, and there was no better training than these test sessions." he concluded.
