What if we saw a 100% Catalan podium on Sunday during the MotoGP Grand Prix of Catalonia?
The idea of course germinated following the magnificent double achieved this Friday by the two Aprilia riders, Aleix Espargaró et Maverick Vinales, during the first day of testing for the Catalan Grand Prix.
Aleix I will espargaro was born 32 years ago in Granollers, at the gates of the Catalunya–Barcelona circuit. Maverick Vinales, five years younger, comes to us from Figueras, a town in the north of Catalonia, very close to the French border.
Simple game of the mind, who could complete this podium?
Of the six other Spanish riders present at this ninth round of the MotoGP world championship, we therefore exclude Marc Márquez, three are Catalan, Alex Rins born in Barcelona, Pol I will espargaro in Granollers, álex Márquez in Cervera, while Jorge Martín et Raul Fernandez come to us from Madrid and Joan mir of charming Palma.
Let's imagine that the two Aprilia riders continue their momentum, so it's ÁLex Rins, currently eighth following an offbeat strategy, which would represent the best chance of celebrating a 100% local podium.
And even if to our knowledge, nor to that of the highest authority in the matter who nevertheless informed us of a 100% Spanish MotoGP podium in 2013 (plus two in 125 and Moto3), this has never happened, since two or three years nothing seems impossible in MotoGP…
