When, 2 weeks ago, the late Nicky Hayden was inducted into the American Motorcycle Association Hall of Fame, we told you about two motorcycles intended to pay tribute to the American World Champion.

Today we know a little more about these 2 machines offered by American Honda.

The CBR1000RR is classically clad in the Repsol livery with which the Kentucky native captured the MotoGP title in 2006.

The choice of the XR650L and its preparation were entrusted to Tony Prust ofAnalog Motorcycles in Chicago. And the preparation was extensive, to make the Honda look like a Flat track Harley-Davidson XR750, all with a decoration undoubtedly evoking that of the RC51 with which Nicky Hayden was AMA champion in 2002: creation of a tank and a custom aluminum seat backrest, modification of the rear frame buckle, etc.

We'll let you judge the result, both sober and more than nice!

The motorcycles have been displayed at various events and will be auctioned off to benefit the American Motorcycle Heritage Foundation, which raises funds for the Hall of Fame. Other commemorations will take place in the years to come.

Keith Dowdle, director of marketing at American Honda:  “Racing fans around the world loved Nicky for his charm, his beautiful smile and his willingness to stop and talk to everyone. Those of us who were lucky enough to know him and work with him loved him too. Nicky was a true champion in every sense of the word. He was humble and pleasant, even after all his success. We all miss him very much. The motorcycles we donated to the AMA represent one of many projects we are working on to celebrate Nicky’s life in the years to come.”
